We provide fast-track construction of complex, fully-fitted healthcare buildings, including operating theatres, to the NHS and other healthcare service providers.

Our designs are tailored for a number of healthcare applications and delivered rapidly using modular construction techniques.

Technically compliant with NHS HTM and HBN recommendations, our facilities are highly robust with the look and feel of traditional buildings and a design life in excess of 60 years.

There are a range of acquisition options available to our customers from direct purchase through ModuleCo to hiring through our partner company ModuleCo Healthcare.

Design and Consultation

Our design team is multi-disciplined, with skills and experience in architecture, structural engineering, building services engineering, logistics and facilities management.

Involved in developing healthcare facilities for almost 20 years we have delivered over 140 facilities to the NHS and private healthcare providers. The team has a depth of experience in both healthcare design and complex fast-track construction.

Fast-track construction experience, detailed healthcare design experience and in-depth knowledge of NHS HBNs and HTMs puts us in a unique position to deliver innovative, rapidly deployed, technical healthcare facilities to UK trusts.

We design efficient, compliant healthcare buildings and then optimise the design for fast-track construction and maximisation of the installation work carried out in the factory.

Project Management

As part of BladeRoom Group, we are endowed with an expert fast-track project management team who have consistently and successfully delivered projects all over the world.

With experience of 140+ hospital projects, they possess an acute awareness of the risks and sensitivities of working in healthcare environments, enabling them to manage projects in busy, constrained hospital sites with minimal disruption to daily operations.

As we have developed the scope, scale and complexity of the facilities delivered has increased over time, highly detailed management processes have evolved. We follow a defined manufacturing and installation process, documented and auditable in accordance with company standards as well as guides and training. In this way we have delivered facilities as far afield as the US, Australia and Africa – entirely within budget and programme.

The factory manufacture, logistical project management and co-ordination of site activities with the Trust or main contractor is managed as one seamless process, guaranteeing project success.

Offsite Manufacturing

We specialise in the fast-track construction of complex, highly engineered healthcare facilities. Unlike many ‘modular’ providers, our production and delivery techniques are not simply confined to the delivery of volumetric modules and craning them into place.

We have instead developed a construction approach where pre-serviced building sections are delivered to site and mounted on a concrete slab which forms the ground floor.

Pre-installation of healthcare specific services and M&E systems is maximised in the factory as far as a specific project will allow, enabling:

• Rapid construction programmes
• Reduced on-site disruption
• A quality of build not achievable using traditional construction methods

Experience

ModuleCo have provided over 140 healthcare facilities across the UK for the NHS and private healthcare providers.

The scale of the facilities installed ranges from single operating theatres, to multi- theatre suites, from 56 bed wards to 5 storey A&E departments.

The facilities we have experience in providing include:

Operating theatres:

We supply HBN26 compliant theatres across a range of disciplines including general anaesthetic surgery, orthopaedic theatres with laminar flow canopies and ophthalmic theatres with concrete floors to enable the use of floor-mounted lasers and microscopes.

In addition we provide larger surgical facilities, multi-theatre departments and day surgery facilities that are designed specifically to include the ancillary support a Trust may require including staged recovery areas, pre-op accommodation, changing rooms and staff facilities.

In-patient accommodation:

We can supply wards in single or multi-storey formats either to a ModuleCo standard configuration or a bespoke design to meet the specific requirements of an individual Trust.

Technical in-patient accommodation such as ICU and isolation rooms can be supplied, either as standalone suites or integrated into a larger scheme.

In-patient maternity facilities are another one of our areas of expertise and we have provided large-scale projects that include pre and post-natal accommodation, obstetrics theatres and SCBU.

Imaging facilities:

Designing and specifying modular imaging facilities requires knowledge and experience to ensure that they are correctly engineered, shielded and robust enough to support the weight of extremely heavy equipment.

We have supplied numerous imaging facilities either as stand-alone suites or integrated into larger schemes and have provided MRI and CAT facilities and cardiac catheterisation laboratories both interventional and non-interventional.

Pathology and laboratories:

We have a strong track record in providing high classification laboratories and cleanrooms including pathology labs, containment labs and cyto-toxic pharmacies.

We have provided bespoke mortuary facilities including autopsy facilities, body storage and forensic pathology facilities.

Collaboration

We have multi-disciplinary design, project management and site management teams who are experienced at working in collaboration with NHS Trust partners or contracting teams with the aim of achieving the optimum solution for our clients.

Our design team is set up to work with a Trust or main contractor delivery team and produce the co-ordinated information required to keep a project on track. They are highly experienced in fast-track construction and the healthcare market and will add enormous value to the design development process.

Experienced in working with PFI partners and ProCure21+ PSCP's we are comfortable with adopting a sub-contract role in these arrangements.

Our sales team is on hand to assist in the sales / tender process should you need it and would be keen to attend meetings as part of the Trust or contractor team to explain the benefits and methodology of the ModuleCo approach to potential joint clients. A ModuleCo maintenance resource provides experienced engineering backup and facilities management which can be utilised as required by our customers.
